TRANSPARENT CURTAINS SOFTEN THE LIGHT
Sansusi Well-Being Art Residency, Latvia, Oct- Dec 2024
Drawing inspiration from the white, transparent curtains adorning the windows of houses in Akniste, Latvia, and the collective and individual gestures of participants in the Sansusi Well-Being Programme — residents of the local nursing home and psychiatric hospital living somewhat apart from societal rhythms — I embroidered patterns onto locally sourced papers and materials. Like curtains that both veil and reveal, the works reflect the thresholds between the private and the public, fragility and visibility.
