LA SAINTE CHAPELLE

As part of the diptych INNER LOVE this work proposes a dialogue between contemporary and folk art, the capital and the countryside, Western and Eastern traditions. Through layered interventions, memory, tradition and contemporary craft are woven together in a tactile and visual conversation.

LA SAINTE CHAPELLE, artist’s book, embroidery on paper, built upon the skeleton of the book La Sainte- Chapelle (CMN, Paris, c. 1980), 28x37cm, 2024

The embroidered front cover draws inspiration from N. G. Pentzikis’ 1978 work Χριστόψαρο (Christopsaro)

The interior embroideries respond to the original book’s color illustrations

Two illustrations (pp. 4 & 7) serve as the basis for the embroidered interpretations

Six slides from the original publication are included

Text: Free translation of A. Karavas' notes (c. 1998)

Προς Εκκλησιασμόν (Pros Ecclesiasmon), reference to the book by N. G. Pentzikis, 1970
